Much Needed Break

Finally, the eight days of work are over.  It was the slowest, most uninteresting week too.  On top of which, JUST as I was off to tell my manager I was leaving, I had to help some people.  Who were incredibly indecisive over four cabinets.  For 45 minutes.

If I had to go back tomorrow, I think I would probably go cuckoo.

Eight Days a Week

I am halfway through an eight day work week, by which I mean I am working eight days in a row.  It's about as exciting as it sounds.  But on Friday morning, Stephanie and I are going up to Minneapolis to see our friend Haley, go shopping (theoretically for dresses) and just generally get out of Iowa.  I've left this area twice in the four months since I've come home which, incidentally, this is the longest I've been in one place in the last year and a half.  So this eight days of working will be worth it in that regard.

The downside is, that it leaves me with little material or energy to blog about.  Besides the usual retail madness, there isn't much left to talk about with this job.

I did learn something this morning: if you google "salmon cannery", I am on the first page of results.  How about that!

A Little Bit of Nerd

A week before this comes out, X-Men Origins: Wolverine starts playing.  And does that look all sorts of exciting and full of Hugh Jackman?  Why yes!  Yes it does!

Eagle vs. Beaver

I think it's all sorts of funny that the national animal of Canada is a beaver.  Really?  A beaver?  Not say, a moose, or a polar bear*?  And that their dollar coins are the loonie and toonie.

I have a friend, Jenn, who lives in Canada.  We met in Nelson when we worked for Sealord (I knew she was Canadian the first day, because she has a tattoo on her shoulder of the Canadian flag with "Made in Canada" written by it).  We livened up many tedious hours of staring at frozen fish products by making fun of each other's nationalities, but I think she had an unfair advantage because at the time our president was still Bush.  So anyway, the other day I recieved a package from Canada that contained "The Perfect Man" (he's made of chocolate) and a hat that says "Canada" and is very red.  I think it's for a kid, because it doesn't really sit on my head very well, but I will wear it anyway.  Because it's all sorts of hilarious!  Now I am trying to think of something to send to her in return, but without success as of yet.

Oh, Canada!

On another note, I love that spring is on it's way.  I can't wait to be rid of winter coats and the constant putting on and removal of hats, scarves, and gloves.  It was a good sign that today we had some of our windows open for awhile!  Bring on the warm weather!
