things

so new york, which i have been back from for almost two weeks now, was a really great vacation.  i know now it seems almost ridiculous to write about or anything, but i don't know.  i just don't feel like i did anything so super fantastically special that needs to be written about.  it was mostly normal things like shopping and eating, just in a different city.  (okay, there was the party at the moma and that was pretty sweet, but mostly it was just people hanging out.  in the moma.)

i did get to go to the cloisters, which i had no idea existed previously.  i really liked it because it was a lot of architectural and stonework type of things which, while i like art, sometimes i like this stuff better.  the things with an actual use, but beautiful to look at as well.

i haven't too much since i got back, i had to work the day after i flew in and so i've been doing a lot of that.  and then i was spending most of my time editing photos, then stephanie gave me a bunch of music so i've been playing with my itunes.  (i have 2200+ songs on there and that doesn't include all of my cds.  i think i need to do some weeding out.)

also, i went to david's birthday party on saturday, followed by another stay at cornell with my sister.  i am not even kidding when i say i took 60 photos of david.  he's just too cute not to.

and today my dad did my taxes and i'm getting about 60% more back than i thought i was.  i think that is the only benefit to being poor, i get all of that money back.

one week later

and i'm still not really ready to update.  i just don't feel like writing anything, but since i'm done editing and uploading my photos (even my christmas ones), i don't really have any more excuses.  which means someone needs to i don't know, kick me in the ass or something.  seriously, i have some kind of a motivation problem.  maybe because it's still january?

gingerbread house

Dsc05102_2

i took some photos of stephanie's gingerbread house today and put them in with the christmas photos i haven't actually uploaded yet.  other than that and once again sewing up my messenger bag that's pretty much all i've done today.  oh, that and finishing up a book for the first time in about two months.  (oops.)

oh, NOW i remember!

it wasn't just target that got my money when i was living at home last, it was also those silly art and frame suppliers!

as i spend more on frames and drawing supplies.  at least i'm finishing up some projects that have long been on the list.  i mean, i only have about ten photos left to upload to flickr from when my cousin got married.  in may.  (speaking of my to do list, i finally taped it on the wall by my door.  think it will make a difference?)

also, i went to the newly-opened bridge view center in town today to do volunteer for a kid's day with the credit union.  as we finished up, the sun was setting, making the buildings across the river glow.  of course i couldn't pass up the opportunity to take some photos, so i did, and now i have a new album

2007 begins

happy new year everyone!  i hope everyone has had good holidays, don't let the blues get you down now that it's january!  i guess that i've been on typepad now for three years, even though it's been a pretty unremarkable three years if you look at what i've written.  (although, three years ago i was getting ready to go to england again.  three years?  that's sad, how time passes by so quickly.  no wonder i feel like it's time to go back.)

i have more christmas photos, i love taking pictures at my grandparent's house.  they have such neat things.  but i think that we just had our last holiday there, stephanie said that they gave their table leaves to steve and adele after my mom and i left.  so it doesn't sound like they plan on having us all there again.  which is really sad, and difficult.  my grandad also started giving away more than just books, he gave some china out this year.  my mom thinks he's doing that so if something should happen to him, grandmere won't have to worry about it.  i don't want to think about my grandparents getting older, they're such vibrant people.  (but i have to admit, i look forward to getting gifts from their house over the next few years.)  between that and my parents move* this summer, thinking about this year's holidays is just impossible.  so i will think about these last holidays instead.

and about my upcoming trip to new york: in nine days i will be there, bossing everyone around!

(in my last post i mentioned work stresses--we had some offages and cash dispensor problems, and i had my second offage.  it's a write-up.  and a meeting.  a third would result in me being suspended without pay or, possibly, fired.  so while it's getting better, it's still in the back of my mind.)

*we don't know where to yet, we just know that there will be a move.
