Scouting out some doughnuts!

In January, I mentioned on Facebook that my only "goal" for the year was to finally eat a Tim Horton's donut. (Which I still have not done yet.) It resulted in a long conversation with some friends about other places to eat donuts, and the idea of a photography project. (Thanks Sandy!)

The other day I headed down to Seattle just to get out of town and run some errands, and I made a stop at Top Pot Doughnuts' downtown location. I bought four different donuts and have definitely eaten them all! The donut photo I've put here is of the Double Trouble. Which I presume is because it's a chocolate donut with a chocolate glaze on top of it. While I really do like donuts, I can't say I understand what makes a donut "extra special". Other than perhaps deprivation from other food that tastes good. (Referencing the cannery here.)

I still enjoyed them though, and will likely be getting more in the future!

Isn't it fun...

When I found out how much my federal tax return would be this year, I was so excited! I had all these plans, trips I could take and things I could finally buy!

Of course, it never works that way. I need new tires for my car, I have weddings to go to, so on and so forth.

I guess this is what being a responsible adult is about. I'm still going to buy some yarn, though!

Bibliophilia

I have not been knitting anything outside of slowly working on a project in knit group, or doing any hiking at all, or baking any extraordinary foods lately. Just some working, and when not at work, reading. I have lost track of how many books I've read recently, but I'm on a kick. My best friend recommended two novels to me that I devoured, I was immersed in Patti Smith's Just Kids, and now I'm reading about rugby and politics in South Africa. (Playing the Enemy by John Carlin.) I've taken full advantage of my library's online account "wish list" ability and the option to put books on hold.

But I'm still looking for new material to read, so if you know of a book you think I'd like, let me know! I'll probably read it. Unless something else catches my attention. (Hey, spring is coming up, and I still have that seed catalog!)

I've moved! I now live within walking distance of town. Which means lots of time at the library!

A good thing, since I no longer have access to tv.
