a tribute to my sister
who turned 21 on sunday. she's the cool one, with the hipster clothes and the good cds. and, even if she does insist on speaking in french sometimes, i do love her.

another photo laden entry
it appears that this year my mardi gras is being celebrated in days advance to the actual event.
the kings cakes i made. one i took to our mardi gras potluck at church.
the gumbo i made for dinner tonight. nice and spicy.
wearing beads at the church potluck.
my t-shirt (and the t-shirt stephanie is wearing in the photo above it) is colored "bayou cypress". hilarious and appropriate.
i got my yearbook today. i had to laugh, because every photo i am in, i think laura is also in. (and oh, in the french club mardi gras photo, i am not doing what it appears i am doing. i know by pointing it out now everyone will look, but i thought i would defend myself early on.) and i laughed when i re-read our thing in the seniors pages, especially the part about dedicating it to the color pink. oh, how i cannot wait to see laura again!!
the super bowl alternative
yesterday animal planet had a puppy bowl. it was basically puppies playing together in a miniature stadium for a few hours. and they showed it four times. you can also buy the dvd.
yeah.

i didn't sign up for this!
so yesterday this guy came through my lane and bought just two boxes of sudafed, which we are supposed to report to security. when i was asking janice the number this guy came up and said he was from the drug task force and asked if the guy had bought two boxes of sudafed. then he ran out after him and i called security. later, our security person came up to me and said that i had made a good call. so i think that means he got busted for making meth.
nobody ever told me that my job could be so exciting.

some exciting stories
i have some artwork on display at the local coffee shop. it's pretty exciting, ottumwa doesn't have many/any photographers, so i have heard rumours from other artists that people are talking about "the photographer." now, if someone would only buy something. i'm also working on new stuff so when my 30 days are up, i have new things to rotate in. i also have resumed drinking numerous mochas.
two days ago i scared a fat, fat, mean squirrel eating all of the sunflower seeds on our deck. he jumped a foot in the air and then proceeded to fall off of the railing. it was definitely more humourous than cruel.
i am my brother and sister's "travel agent" for their trip to england. i have found them a hotel for £30/$60 a night right near victoria station. which will be great. i have also found some b&bs in salisbury to look into, and done research on places for them to go including hours and prices. i am enjoying it, but i sure do miss england. and if anyone else is planning i trip, i can play travel agent for them, but i do expect at least a postcard. bigger souvenirs preferred.
last night was my mom's reception for her art show. my grandparents came, and so did the deans, some family friends. it's nice to see people. like laura, who i will see in 17 days! (i can't wait!)
